5 career questions will help you make a wise decision

Everyone needs to make money, but finding a career that is both fulfilling and provides a livable income is a difficult task! This post will help you sift through some questions about deciding on a career, which will help make intelligent plans for you future. Here are 5 questions you should ask yourself before deciding on a career!

  1. What do you like to do? Maybe you have lots of hobbies, maybe you have one sole passion; or, perhaps, you don’t have a strong drive to do any one thing repetitively, and instead you prefer a variety of experiences. Whatever your personal situation may be, everyone (hopefully) likes to do something, and it’s important to be very sure of what’s important to you when making a career decision.
  2. What are you good at? This question is different than question 1, in that it takes the perspective away from you, the individual, to the the whole community. It’s key to take the things you like to do, and do them in a way that is helpful to others around you. A career that meets in between of your personal interests and the interests of the community will be a satisfying career choice.

The Changing Face Of Jobs And Careers

At one time there were certain Jobs and Careers one could count on to always be there and pay a great salary. The teaching profession, law enforcement services, and even social services had very high hiring rates and one could be sure that career paths in these fields would ensure a retirement with a salary that one could live on for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, the face of the job market is changing and these professions appear to have been hit the hardest.

There are many reasons for this change in employment opportunities. One of the most predominate is the fact that they require government funding and the government is not doing well in today’s economic times. As one looks around and sees the number of homes that have gone into foreclosure it is easy to calculate the rate of taxes lost on a yearly basis. Without government funding, these career fields will not have the money to support prior hiring trends.

The consequences are far-reaching and affect people of all ages. With fewer teachers, classrooms are becoming overcrowded. With fewer police officers on the street, crime is on the rise. And with fewer workers in the social

What Is the Difference Between a Job and Career?

Most people do not see a difference between a career and a job. The first time you hear the word is when your father says get a job. It is usually in response to a teenager who wants a car when they turn 16 or 17 years old. According to the dictionary, a job is a regular activity performed in exchange for payment, especially as one’s trade. A job can be full or part-time and generally thought to just be something to generate spending money, for that first car or pay bills. The biggest difference between a job and career is a job is not thought of to be long-term or require specific training. A career is a chosen pursuit; a profession or occupation. Can a job be part of a career? Yes! An entry-level position at McDonalds is generally thought of as a job for a lot of people. If you want to have a career in fast food restaurants, that entry-level position could be the first step in that career.

A career is generally long-term and requires specific training. A career can be a series of jobs that are related to that long-term goal or pursuit. A career

The Science of Highly Effective Job and Career Searches

Today’s job market is highly competitive market place for locating jobs and careers. It’s not uncommon, in some regions, to hear of a ratio of available job openings to actively seeking workers being in the range of 1:10. From Alabama to California, thousands of Americans are lining up in hopes of landing the ever elusive job. Jobs and careers searches have become a quest void of the once pursued goal of a dream job, replaced by the fleeting hope of a job which will enable survival.

Today’s job market is calling upon those applicants to sharpen up their game and approach job seeking in a way which is far different from jobs and careers search skills used 5 to 10 years ago. Today, each and every job applicant is a walking talking web page. Take a minute and consider the web page and it’s structure.

Every web page has a title tag. Every jobs and careers applicant should have the title of a position they are seeking. Furthermore, they should have a crisp, clear, definitive title on their resume which clearly states their purpose. Don’t confuse this with a purpose statement. A title is usually 60 characters or less including

I recently interviewed for a position in a different profession and industry than the one that I am in currently (and had worked in for over 10 years).
